Real Estate Agent, Business Owner, Activist, Women's Advocate
Anita have been committed to the elimination of sexism, racism, cultural barriers and has been involved in Women and Civil Rights since 1970. She has owned several business and is a motivational speaker, a retired real estate broker, an entrepaneur and a community leader. She is also the President of Marcos Productions, a women-owned business providing bilingual seminars and training for women.
The following are a few of her many contributions: President of Bay Area NOW, past Chair of Dallas HWNT, past board member of AIDS Interfaith Network, Project Esperanza, Mi Escuelita, Girls Inc., Corazones Unidos of the american Heart Association, Dallas Can Academy Latino Task Force, DFW International Alliance, and past President of Grupo Internacional Dallas. She is a certified instructor for Character Counts for adolescents and is past chair of the Education Seminar Series (now LIP). Anita was the creator and producer of her own TV talk show for Hispanic women and the creator of ARRIBA, a training program for low income Hispanic women. In partneship with HWNT, she created and presented a series of empowermnet workshops for Latina women.
Anita is committed to the promotion of Peace. She was one of the organizers and the official translator for “Heart to Heart, People to People,” an international peace conference of 35 Indian nations held in Ecuador, S.A. She has been a member of Peacemakers Inc. for many years, and is currently serving as its Board president.
Some of the awards and recognitions she has received are: the prestigious “She Knows Where She Is Going” Award from Girl’s Inc, “The Outstanding Leadership Award” from Hispanic Women’s Network, the VFA 2010 Award, the 2010 Maura Women Helping Women Award and the 2013 SMU Women Symposioum leadership Award.
