Will present information on Women, Infant and Children (WIC) and Child Health programs in Dallas.

Mellisand Le Roy
Resource Officer, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Dallas Regional Office
Will present information on the Dllas Refugee Program and the Women's Commission, an international program.

Panelist: Qudsia Mirza, Ph. D

Professor Mirza has just arrived in Dallas after completing a post as Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Her teaching and research interests include Islamic Law,International Human Rights Law, Discrimination Law, and Feminist Legal Theory.

Panelist: Rick Halperin, Ph.D.

Dr. Halperin is Director of Human Rights Education at SMU.  Award winning educator and human rights activist, he currently serves on the boards of Amnesty International  USA and the  Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.

Presenter: CULLEN HENDRIX, PhD , Assistant Professor, Political Science, University of North Texas

Dr. Hendrix is an authority on civil conflict, climate change and conflict, and the political economy of development. His current research focuses on food insecurity, climate change, and violent political mobilization, particularly riots and insurgent movements.


Presenter: DEVIE RICHARDS, Executive Regional Director--Texas, Sustainable Global Leadership Alliance (SGLA)

Ms. Richards has worked in Honduras on reforestation and Moringa Tree planting projects. Locally she has initiated recycling programs. Her passions include empowering youth leadership and protecting and sustaining the environment. She currently serves on the board of Peacemakers Incorporated.
